Ok, time to get Bill Nye for a sec (only sexier, of course) and break down the science of why this stuff is the sh*t.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
DHA = Dihydroxyacetone.
It's a colorless sugar derived from plants (usually sugar beets or sugar cane) and it’s the main active ingredient in most self-tanners and spray tans.
Why you should care...
It reacts with the amino acids in your skin’s surface through something called the Maillard Reaction — which sounds super science-y, but it’s basically the same type of reaction that browns toast -- except in this case, it's making your skin look super bronzed and glowy!
- Purer (less likely to oxidize = better color payoff)
- More stable (longer shelf life, less stink)
- More consistent (a tan that develops evenly and fades gracefully)
